The online courses in this website are designed for people who have already experienced Applied Theatre and Drama Education - at least you should have taken part in related workshops, productions or performances.

For those who have got basic experience, the courses here will provide you with good examples of Applied Theatre and Drama Education and useful tips for the facilitator.

For those who already have considerable experience, these courses will bring you in-depth understanding about the artistic and pedagogical rationales underlying the activity design, to deepen your knowledge and enhance your ability in the field.

I don't believe online learning can replace real experiences in drama. However, it can be effectively employed to share ideas, explain knowledge and stimulate reflection. In designing these courses, I seek to maximise the benefits of online learning. It is highly recommended that you get physical experience in drama by taking part in other live workshops.

我不相信網上學習能取代親身戲劇體驗，但它可以做到分享想法丶講解知識丶促進反思。在設計本網的課程時，我充份運用網上學習的特性，以期達到最佳教學效果，但親身體驗的部份，則依靠你另找機會參與別的課程或工作坊了。

I hope my online school will benefit people with different abilities and language backgrounds. As such,

• all written materials are presented in both Chinese and English

• spoken materials are presented in Cantonese and English, with Chinese and English subtitles respectively
  

• live webinars and coaching are conducted multilingually (Cantonese, Mandarin and English) according to the language in which questions are asked

Applied Theatre and Drama Education are related fields. Without getting into lengthy definitions, I generally use ‘Drama Education’ in this website to refer to related drama practices within schools, and ‘Applied Theatre’ to refer to related drama practices outside schools. ‘Applied Theatre and Drama Education’ is used to refer to the broader field.

The choice of ‘Applied Theatre’ in the name of this online school does not imply a preference for this field. I chose this name only because, as a cat lover, I wanted the English acronym for the school to be CATLab instead of CADLab or something else. Meow~ 

應用劇場和戲劇教育是相關的領域。在不涉及冗長的定義的前題下，我在這個網站中使用「應用劇場與戲劇教育」來指整個廣泛的領域，用「戲劇教育」指向在學校內的相關戲劇實踐，用「應用劇場」指向在學校外的相關戲劇實踐。而本網上學校的名稱選擇用「應用劇場」，並不表示我偏重這個領域。名字的選擇是因為作為一個愛貓的人，我想學校的英文簡稱叫做CATLab而不是CADLab或其他，謹此而已。喵～
